Everyone has experienced grief and loss. What did you feel at that moment? What did that person leave behind?

We mortals are born to die.  What we do in between the two determines what we leave behind.

A person who has climbed the ladder of success and who is respected and loved by all leaves behind a legacy. The nation recently mourned the passing away of one of its gems Mr Ratan Tata. He left behind his good deeds and a void in all the hearts of the citizens of the country. Similarly leaders like Abdul Kalam and Vajpayee left the nation in tears.

When our near ones pass we are left with memories and a void that is never filled. Our actions craft what type of memories we leave behind. Have we jumped in and taken life to a new high, have we influenced people to better lives or have we made the lives of everyone around us miserable?

Have we strived for the betterment of the community or have we created hatred and disharmony.  We will leave behind a legacy of  our deeds and our survivors will  reap the benefits of the seeds we sow.

Thus be mindful and act. Remember you are not alone. Your legacy affects your family, your tribe and your country.

Perform deeds that add value to someone’s life and in death you will leave behind a source of inspiration and motivation and a legacy to aspire to and learn from.
