Negative emotions and feelings are part and parcel of life. But if not worked upon can lead to mental stress, anxiety and depression.

These are 5 strategies I use to cope with negative feelings

  1. Observe the thoughts as a witness: observing the thoughts and writing them down helps to destress the mind.

  2. Physical exercise: physical exercise helps release feel good chemicals like endorphins as well as create distraction hence help to relieve stress and manage negative thoughts. Physical exercises can include a brisk walk, exercises like running,  dance etc.

  3. Talk to a  friend or trusted person: this will help you view your thoughts in new light. It will also help you relieve stress

  4. Pranayama and meditation practices helps keep mind focussed on the present moment increasing mindfulness and decreasing stress and negative thoughts

  5. Change your narrative: engage in positive self talk.

Do let me know what are your strategies to cope with negative thoughts.

What strategies do you use to cope with negative feelings?
