What are your feelings about eating meat?
With the commercialization and advent of meat industry to include dairy farms, packaging and transportation has led to increased risk of consumption of chemicals and pesticides via the meats in our diet. Moreover we are not aware of the quality of food and health status of the animals, chemicals fed or injected to them or the various amounts of chemicals used for processing and storage of meat.
Yogic culture recommends fresh preparation and consumption of food on daily basis for maximum health benefits. However, refrigeration has changed the way we consume food. Although it prevents food from going sour it may still not provide the benefits that are available with freshly cooked food.
What one eats is their personal choice however it is believed that animals that are higher is the food chain should not be consumed as they are difficult to digest by the human system. Also, it is believed that animals that understand emotions and realise that they are being butchered release hormones that are of fear and pain, hence, these emotions are believed to enter our lives through the food we consume and affect our energies.
We are all made of the food that we consume hence we need to make an informed decisions of what is good for our body. Also we need to ensure that what we eat is not laced with harmful chemicals that can be dangerous in the long run. Hence, the community in general has to take responsibility for breeding, packaging , storage etc of the food products so that illnesses are not caused due to actions of our making.
Finally what we consume is our decision and I hope that it is an informed choice.
