Your mind can be your best friend or your worst enemy

Bhagavad Gita

I remember the time when I got admission into medical.college. I was happy and elated. I believed all my doubts are over and my life is all set. But when i entered the college I realised that this was just the beginning of a very long grind of hours of study, clinics and practice. As students we heard of many other colleagues getting frustrated and finding it difficult to handle. Some quit, some took a break and some attempted suicide. All these decisions were made by the same mind.

The mind that once accepted the challenge felt weak at a later moment. The one that was self confident felt defeated and the one joyful was wallowing in frustration and desperation.

When the mind can take us where it wants at its whims how can we control what happens?

The answer lies in becoming the master of the mind rather than allowing it to dictate to you.

It may feel unbelievable or insane at first but it’s possible.

Start with a small practice of observing your thoughts and their flow. Gradually you will see how they are different from your own being. How they stimulate our mind to act in a particular way.

Over a period of time observe the thoughts like guests entering a building. They come and go as they wish. Just observe amd do not follow or entertain them. Gradually you will notice the inner chatter of the mind has decreased, your thoughts are diminished and you will be able to distance yourself from negative thoughts. Thus slowly mastering the trickster the mind.
