As the battle ground was filled with enormous armies on both sides with brave and valiant soldiers. Fearless, courageous ready to kill and be killed… as death lurked on all sides and thirst for blood evident… as the largest battle of eons was ready to be raged… a powerful soldier lost his heart, lost his will to fight! Emotions engulfed him and he let go of his foremost duty of being a warrior.
He was filled with remorse and regret seeing his loved ones on the other side… ready to shed his blood. The ones who once loved him and bestowed him with blessings and nurtured him with utmost love stood before him ready to fight.
He lost his strength and the will power to pick up his beloved bow… his eyes filled with tears and throat choked with emotions he couldn’t express.. he refused to fight…
He refused to perform his duty, he refused to destroy the evil, he refused to recognize himself and his responsibilities.
In such a state he turned to his friend and charioter, his relative and idol, he turned to Lord Krishna for guidance… thus the Bhagavad Gita was born.
A storehouse of profound wisdom and learnings, a manual for daily living, an elixir of life for the ones ready to surrender and learn.
The one ready to break free from preconceived notions, ready to uplift oneself from the day to day rut and misery, the one who has tried and failed and doesn’t have the motivation to keep going… the one who is disheartened, discouraged and in despair.
It was in a similar state that blessings came to me. First in the form of a Guru and then in the form of the Bhagavad Gita.
The teachings of this great scripture still resonates with the world centuries later. I realised that every one even great people like Arjuna have been through the depths of negativity and risen stronger. The Gita is not for any-one it’s for everyone. Being a spiritual text it is also a self help guide. Right from imparting the values of meditation , importance of your duties and the need for discipline it teaches you how you can traverse this world of uncertainties and misery. How to uplift oneself and others.. how to be and behave…
On the occasion of Gita Jayanti I request you all to imbibe the teachings of Bhagvad Gita. We may not get there 100 percent in one go… but we can surely take baby steps towards our own happiness.
We can start with meditation, mindfulness forgiveness and willingness to learn and slowly and surely live a life of fulfilment and abundance.
