What if hours were added to your day? What would you do with the extra time?  Each of us would have a different take. Business professionals would want to work on strategies to expand their Business whereas students would want to study more effectively and professionals would love to delve deeper into the depths of their professions.  What ever it was we would still fall short without effective time management strategies.

Effective time management is crucial in our busy lives as pending tasks and projects can cause a lot of mental stress and strain on our wellbeing, which inturn can lead to anxiety and loss of sleep and other health issues.

So how do we manage time effectively?

1. One of the most widely accepted techniques for  time management include setting goals and priorities and breaking them into smaller time bound achievable tasks.

For example when I authored my book, I had a dedicated time of one hour daily with the target of finishing it by end of 30 days.  This goal motivated me to write daily without distractions and gradually reach the finish line in time.

2. Another technique is the Promo Doro technique that I learnt from my mentor.  Here a task is divided into 25 minutes interval with 5-10 minutes of break in-between.  This technique is based on the concept that the brain can perform it’s best for 25 minutes at a stretch leading to improved efficiency of the task performed.

This technique is great for students and writers as well as professionals mainly engaged in thought process most of the time. This technique can also be used by educators so that maximum knowledge is gained by students.

3. Organization and time blocking helps in stream lining your daily tasks and activities providing adequate time for work, hobbies and family. Further gradually over a period of time these time blocks become your habits and thus you tend to utilise your time effectively.

These are some techniques that have been instrumental in my life. Do share what you do to manage your time effectively.
