What are your favorite types of foods?

Our favorite foods may not be the healthiest. Here is a quick guide to healthy eating.

  1. Focus on Variety: eat the Rainbow of fruits and vegetables.  Different nutrients with Different colours have varied nutrients.

B. Whole grains like rice, quinoa,  whole wheat bread provide fibre, vitamins and minerals.

C. Lean proteins are healthier.

2. Limit intake of processed food:  Be careful of added sugars in processed foods and drinks.

Reduce saturated and unhealthy fats: Limit intake of red meat, processed meats, and unhealthy fats like trans fats.

3. Listen to your body: eat when you are hungry. Do not overeat.

4. Drink plenty of water:intake of atleast 6-8 glasses of water per day is necessary

5. Check food labels:  check the contents in the food while purchasing. As far as possible cook your own food as it gives a better control on the ingredients you use.

It is necessary to keep a balance.  Enjoy your favorite foods in moderation while prioritizing nutrient-dense options. Consult with a healthcare professional or registered dietitian for personalized advice.
