Do lazy days make you feel rested or unproductive?
Lazy days are a luxury reserved for some people. But for a parent of a child as well as a caretaker of elderly parents they are almost non existent. The responsibilities are too many and time too little.
So would I like to trade my duties for plenty of lazy days…? No.. because I know this is a passing phase and the children will grow in no time. And when they fly away leaving behind an empty nest.. these will be the memories we hold on too. The same is for the elders we should do all we can to make their life comfortable.
So does that mean I should sacrifice myself at the altar of responsibilities? Give up my whole life? No. Definitely not. So how do we manage ? By seeking help. Hire a house help, baby sitter or any person who can help make life easier on you. But the best person is an understanding spouse or partner. A person who will love your dear ones as much as you do and will understand your predicament. And of course friends who will be pivotal in helping you unwind so that you can also afford a lazy day or two.
