One Day At a Time

It was our college days and me and my friends were overwhelmed with our studies. The exams were going on and we were all stressed. Medicine is a vast subject and no amount of time is sufficient to cover everything. There was so much to learn and so little time. Many of the hostel mates were all nighters studying throughout the night. However, I was a day person and night study was not my best attribute.

We had a very caring  senior who guided us on many occasions.  She is the most wonderful and optimistic person I know. Thus once when all my friends were gathered for dinner at one of our friends’ room we were all discussing our progress and how so much is yet to be covered. She was also with us that time, and there was one thing she said that remained with me for the rest of my life. She said a very well known but powerful statement.  She said “all these situations will change, we just have to live one day at a time”.

This statement uplifted my spirits at that instant itself. It became my mantra during tough times and trying situations. Thus, I am indebted to her for being a source of inspiration to me during trying times.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
