The higher incidence of depression in women could be due to the following reasons 1. biological: The difference in brain structure and function amongst men and women could  contribute to vulnerability of mental health conditions 2. hormonal changes: The body of a woman undergoes an hormonal  change during menarche, pregnancy and lactation and menopause.  in addition cyclic variations occur during the menstrual cycle. these factors influence mood and can contribute to depression 3. society and environmental factors: societal pressures including gender discrimination, Work overload, potential exposure to violence etc. can also contribute to mental health issues 4. other factors like personality trait, genetic predisposition, family history or. chronic illnesses also makes an individual vulnerable to mental health issues. what can one do to promote mental health 1. seek professional help especially when you observe the signs and symptoms 2. cultivate a hobby 3. exercise or walk or yoga helps to rejuvenate oneself 4. journalling 5. mediation and pranayama what is one activity you do to promote your mental health? #mentalhealthmatters #womenhealth
