Leaving a part of yourself into eternity is what a writer tries to do. In the form of books or essays or the social media of today’s world we seek to be seen and acknowledged.
An autobiography is a means to let the world into your life. It is structured in a way that will resonate with every person yet have the distinct features, challenges and successes that you yourself have encountered.
To me writing an autobiography is sharing the good, bad and ugly to the reader from my perspective. I would obviously be the hero of my story yet what would be the reason anyone should want to read it?
Unless I am a well known personality my life and existence is just one of the millions on this planet thriving and dying in due course of time. So unless I have a story that would inspire, motivate or indulge my reader in some form or another, my autobiography would just be left Gathering dust on the shelf.
I have lived a simple life and had common struggles… but I have learnt something that I believe every individual in this world should know. That is how to manage my inner feelings and thought process. Although it is an ongoing journey and I am going to be a life long learner there are some changes I already feel within me.
Firstly, my reaction to situations is not explosive but calculated. I try to tell myself that what has happened is done and dusted.. what is it that I can do now to minimize it’s effects?
Secondly, being a mother, doctor and author I play many roles but keeping a balance between them is the challenge I try to keep an upper hand onto. Yes sometimes overlap does happen but I guess that just makes me human.
Thirdly and the most important is my ability to deal with stress and anxiety. I must say I have not mastered it yet but I am way much better now than what I was during my early days of motherhood. The struggles which I endured then were my inspiration for my amazon bestseller book “The Arjuna in Me “.
So looking back in life I think my autobiography should inspire the reader to live a happy and pleasant life rather than lead them to a spiral of anxiety and hopelessness leading to pity for the life I had.
It should inspire hope and love and bring out the best in them. If I can achieve these I would be honoured to write my autobiography and start it with… ” The Lessons from My Life you cannot afford to miss..”
