Understanding Parents

Being a mother I now realise the hardships our parents went through. Managing children along with the household responsibilities as well as juggling work is something we fail to appreciate.
It is aptly said that only when we are in someone’s shoes we can understand their hardships.
Teenage is a very delicate phase driven by hormones and arrogance and as a parent it is difficult to handle their tantrums. It is scary to say anything just out of fear of how they may react. But if they could tone down a little and look at the world through the eyes of a parent the apparent concern and care would be visible.
If I could have realised the hardships my parents faced maybe I would have been a less self centred teenager. Maybe I would have understood the concern behind their anger, maybe I would have argued less and caused fewer tensions.
Although these are just memories now, I am reliving them on the other side of the equation and feel grateful to my parents for not giving up on me through the emotional turmoil of a teenager.
