Waiting

It’s been days now. The scorching sun is getting unbearable. All the birds and creatures have disappeared and the leaves are going down too. It is tht time of the year again. One of lonliness and solitary existence.

A few days more, I tell myself as the breeze rustles the fallen leaves. The barren land parched and dry, looking up to the heavens in anticipation. All animals have disappeared from the landscape. Hues of brown and shades of arid extending for miles all around.

I am doing my best standing here but I have a feeling my feet will give way soon. The search for water is deep bearly managing to dip my deepest tendrils. It’s no surprise all my friends have given up, dying a death of dehydration and lonliness.

I just decide to take a day at a time.. waiting in anticipation with the parched earth, for the droplets from the sky. For a taste of water and dampness of the soil. A silent prayer to the clouds and beyond.
