Be it a travel journey or just an usual day at work, the moment I set foot into my home I automatically go into relax mode. The familiarity and the safety of the space coupled with the love and support of its inhabitants keeps me rejuvenated.
But this was not always the case. Being a working mother is not easy. I remember when my children were just toddlers, I used to be overwhelmed by the duties that awaited me at home. A tired body and mind that needed to work again taking care of duties of being a mother.
My lovely children used to fondly run into my arms and insist on me feeding and bathing and caring for them. They used to miss me so much that they wouldn’t let me go for a long time. Hence, motherhood brought with it the joys and sacrifices too.
Thus, as I pulled into the driveway after a long day at work, I used to gear my tired body and mind into working the next shift. The only thing that kept me moving was the unwavering love and affection my children showered on me. The love in their eyes and heart melted away my tiredness and motivated me to perform my duties.
Today 10 years later as I look back I realise how much those efforts have paid off. How much my children are still attached to me and that is proof that I must have done something right towards them.
My family has been a pillar of support in my life including my author journey too, providing me with the space and time needed to write. Hence my favorite place is where my heart is … my home filled with all the members of my family. It is my safe space.
Do you have a favorite place you have visited? Where is it?
