Breaking the shackles

What was the hardest personal goal you’ve set for yourself?

Settings goals is for betterment of the individual and testing our limits to achieve better quality of life. However better quality of life without happiness is of no consequence. And happiness can only be achieved if we are free of negative emotions like guilt, lonliness, depression etc.

Of all the emotions I find forgiveness to be the most challenging to handle. We are disturbed by the words or behaviour of a person and it churns our mind to unfathomable proportions. Feeling of helplessness and being a victim engulf us making us feel weak and powerless.

Another aspect is forgiving oneself which is even more difficult. We tend to judge ourselves too harshly. Guilt eats away constantly and persistently in our minds, making us whither from within.

However hard we may try, convincing the mind is an uphill task. Forgiveness doesn’t mean condoning the behaviour. It only means releasing our mind of the entrapment caused by the incident.

To err is human and learning from mistakes is essential. However equally important is breaking the shackles of our mind and taking control of our lives, converting victimhood and guilt to strength to battle any conditions that come our way.

I fully understand this is easily said than done however it is the hardest personal goal I have set and I plan to emerge victorious irrespective of the battles I may need to wage.
