How Writing Saved Me.

Growing up was tough. Repeated hospitalizations, bronchitis, stomach infections etc. Kept me in and out of hospitals. The notion of being a weakling kept nibbling at my parents moral through taunts and veiled insults by relatives. Thus, sickness, the feeling of not being enough and early puberty pulled me in a dark space I never wished to venture.

I poured all the frustration, guilt, insecurity, regret onto the paper. Steadily putting words to thoughts, churning feelings to sentences, and emotions to insightful paragraphs.

I started small and tentative. A few scribbles here and there. A few confessions written and torn and a steady habit that transformed life. But I realised that one feeling stayed constant. An instant relief and a sense of feeling better. Every word, every sentence drawing away the negative circumstances just a little, making life a little more tolerable.

Today that habit has grown beyond leaps and bounds. Multiple articles, many books and countless posts. The feeling of relief still remains, not only for myself but for having done my bit to bring a little sunshine in a reader's life.

Note: Journaling isn't just an emotional outlet; modern neurobiology shows that "affect labeling" (putting feelings into words) actively deactivates the brain's fear center and lowers cortisol.

I have dedicated my life and my writing to bridging the gap between physical health and emotional resilience. You can explore my published books and deep-dive articles on holistic well-being https://www.drsarojsalelkar.com/
